Jul 02 2017 · when the bowl is half end grain you can expect half the bowl to crack or check i dont think there is realy a science to this if a company makes enough bowls they eather just dry out massive amounts of bowls and use the ones that survives so if they lose 5 oh well or they turn wet wood to final demensions and dont care if it warps

Jan 15 2012 · When a tree is cut it is full of water As it starts to dry it drys faster by the water leaving the ends and the outside drys first When wood drys it shrinks so the outside is drying and shrinking and the inside is drying slower and staying about the same size Imagine two circles one inside the other

Mar 22 2018 · I have tried just using a bag without the shavings and having the shavings in the bag seems to slow down the drying process so you get less cracking The type of wood and the initial condition it is in how dry how much juvenile wood etc will make a difference too A cardboard box will work too if you don’t have a paper bag
